Event Description
Ohau Gourmet Mushrooms are a permaculture farm using regenerative and sustainable farming practices, in Ohau (just south of Levin).
They grow Shiitake and Oyster mushrooms that they sell at local farmer’s markets in the lower North Island. They also make a range of fermented foods & pickles.
They’ll be giving a tour of their mushroom production, and their farm where they incorporate many permaculture principles into their practice. You’ll have an opportunity to sample their OGM! food products, purchase fresh mushrooms and grow kits.
During your visit, they will show you some of their projects like their wetland restoration, hot water compost system, Root cellar, and hugelkultur!
For the kids, they have Arapawa Sheep, peacock, chooks, and ducks. All are free-ranging so if you bring a dog, please have a leash just in case.
